Led Zeppelin for New Year's Eve

Amon Ra - Germany Neo Prog

Finalmente Peter Hammil resolveu dar as caras e trouxe debaixo do braço mais um som fenomenal oriundo de suas explorações progressivas...

Amon Ra biography (ProgArchives)
AMON RA's history dates back in early-90's, when keyboardist Dierk NEIDLER joined the band FRIDAY 13TH. After several line-up changes it was the arrival of drummer Lothar HERMANN that had an impact to the band's sound, heading now to a more progressive direction. Singer Elmas PFISTER friendly parted ways with AMON RA and he was replaced by German-American singer Scott BALABAN in 1994. At that point the band started working on more elaborate, adventurous and challenging arrangements, eventually leading to the recordings and release of their excellent debut "Precarious balance" in 1998, highlighted by a release party in their hometown Bamberg in March of the same year. The album was warmly accepted by the press, leading even to a tour with SAGA in Germany, but in 2003 AMON RA's activities took a long break. With new singer Heiko KELLNER and new guitarist Andreas RUSSWURM, replacing original member Thomas WENZEL, the band seemed to get back on track around 2005, but, as of 2013, it still remains unclear if they have fully regained their activities. Nevertheless, their so far only release sounds still very fresh and will have a certain appeal to both Neo and Heavy Prog fans along the lines of ENCHANT, PALLAS, MYSTERY and all similar sounding groups.

Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit

Para passar esta ressaca de Natal e músicas natalinas, nada melhor que um som novo (para nós). Um sonzaço, meio rock, meio funk, meio blues (matemática não é o meu forte). Ouçam que vale a pena.

Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit is an experimental rock group originally founded by Col. Bruce Hampton. The band gained popularity in the Atlanta club scene in the early 1990s and went on to tour with the first H.O.R.D.E. Tour. During the initial years, the band was composed of Bruce Hampton, Oteil Burbridge, Jimmy Herring, Jeff Sipe, Matt Mundy, and Count M'Butu. Jeff Mosier and Charlie Williams were both members of the band during the early years, but left to pursue other endeavors. Although the band was never commercially successful, their combination of bluegrass, rock, Latin, blues, jazz, funk, and impeccable chops became a template for future bands.

The band originated from a weekly Atlanta jam session hosted by Hampton (from the Hampton Grease Band and The Late Bronze Age) and eventually toured around the Southeastern United States with Hampton, Herring, Burbridge, Sipe, Mundy, and M'Butu. This lineup produced two albums released on Capricorn Records; Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit, in 1992,[1] and Mirrors of Embarrassment, in 1993. During the summer of 1992, the group helped start the H.O.R.D.E. tour with such like-minded bands as Phish, Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, and Widespread Panic. Members of these bands would frequently tour, perform, and record with one another. Béla Fleck and John Popper contributed on Mirrors of Embarrassment and Popper also contributed to The Benefit Concert Vol. 2. Chuck Leavell played on ARU's first two albums on Capricorn Records. Also in 1992 Billy Bob Thornton directed the movie Widespread Panic: Live from the Georgia Theatre which features a music video for "Basically Frightened" performed by Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit with Chuck Leavell and Count M'Butu.
