Anthony Frederick "Tony" Levin (born June 6, 1946) is an American musician and composer, specializing in electric bass, Chapman Stick and upright bass. He also sings and plays synthesizer.Levin is best known for his work with progressive rock pioneers King Crimson and Peter Gabriel. He was also a member of instrumental-prog rock/jazz fusion group Liquid Tension Experiment; the King Crimson-related bands Bruford Levin Upper Extremities, ProjeKct One and ProjeKct Four; and currently leads his own band, Stick Men. A prolific session musician since the 1970s, Levin has played on 500 albums, including those of Cher, Alice Cooper, John Lennon, Sarah McLachlan, Stevie Nicks, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Buddy Rich, The Roches, Todd Rundgren, Seal, Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, Warren Zevon, Kevin Parent, Laurie Anderson, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Gibonni, and Jean-Pierre Ferland. Additionally, he has toured with artists including Paul Simon (with whom Levin appeared in Simon's 1980 film One Trick Pony), Gary Burton, James Taylor, Herbie Mann, Judy Collins, Carly Simon, Peter Frampton, Tim Finn, Richie Sambora, and Claudio Baglioni.
Levin helped to popularize the Chapman Stick and the NS upright bass. He also created "funk fingers", modified drumsticks attached to fingers used to hit the bass strings (which sounds similar to slap style bass). Levin is also one of the first bloggers, as he began sharing his tour experiences in a diary fashion as early as in 1996, one year before the terms "weblog" and "blog" were coined. In 2011, Levin ranked second (behind John Paul Jones) in The "20 Most Underrated Bass Guitarists" in Paste magazine.

Procol Harum are an English rock band formed in 1967. They contributed to the development of progressive rock, and by extension, symphonic rock. Their best-known recording is their 1967 hit single "A Whiter Shade of Pale", which is considered a classic of popular music and is one of the few singles to have sold over 10 million copies. Although noted for its baroque and classical influence, Procol Harum's music also embraces the blues, R&B and soul. In October 2012, the band was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but was unsuccessful.
Based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, The Paramounts, led by Gary Brooker and Robin Trower and including Chris Copping and B. J. Wilson, scored a moderate British success in 1964 with their version of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller's "Poison Ivy", which reached number 35 in the UK Singles Chart.Unable to generate any follow-up success, the group disbanded in 1966. The Paramounts were signed to EMI UK for their releases; until one day before Procol Harum linked with EMI UK again, they were called The Pinewoods. A last-minute offer from Chris Blackwell's fledgling Island Records label was given the thumbs down by Brooker and band. In April 1967, Brooker began working as a singer-songwriter and formed Procol Harum with non-Paramounts Keith Reid (poet), Hammond organist Matthew Fisher, guitarist Ray Royer and bassist David Knights. Guy Stevens, their original manager, named the band after a friend's Burmese cat. The cat's Cat Fancy name was Procul Harun, Procul being the breeder's prefix.
In the absence of a definitive origin, the name attracted various interpretations, being said to be Latin for "beyond these things" (but the correct Latin translation of "beyond these things" is "Procul his") or translated as "of these far off things", the genitive plural "harum" perhaps agreeing with an understood "rerum", "things". The name of the band is frequently misspelt; often with "Procul", "Harem", both, or other variations.

Toshiaki Tsushima - Cops vs Thugs OST
[Japanese title: Kensatsu tai Kumiori Bouryoku]
Fukasaku was on a serious roll in the early 70’s. In addition to 1975’s Cops Vs. Thugs, he pushed out such Jap mob baddies as Graveyard Of Honor, Yakuza Graveyard, Blackmail Is My Life, Street Mobster, Sympathy For The Underdog, and of course, the multi-part The Yakuza Papers, which some have described on the Internet as the “Japanese Godfather”.
Like Graveyard Of Honor, this one weaves thug life, local politics, and good ol’ human barbarism into a fascinating tale that doesn’t go on too long yet leaves this viewer satisfied and tired. The cinematography is similar to that of film noir (with scenes that sometimes switch over into B&W, when a character is recalling past events), with lots of shadows and gloom, and an ultra-cool Toshiaki Tsushima soundtrack that alternates between funky wah-wah guitar jams and downbeat, melancholy saxophone huffing. Fukasaku really knows how to bring an already intriguing storyline even more to life with those ever-important support aspects.

The story of this band started at the Chapel Farm, a farmhouse near Gravesend (Kent) were the band had their first rehearsals. It was the family home of singer Paul Petley, other musicians were Geoff Whitehorn (electric guitar), Paul Lawrence (acoustic guitar/vocals), David Metcalfe (keyboards), David Read (bass guitar) and Brian Chatham (drums), later replaced by John Webster. The lead guitar was by the promising Bob Vann but he died in a car accident, he was replaced by Pete James. The new line-up FANTASY sent a demo tape to the label Decca and changed their name in FIREQUEEN. But Polydor was also interested and they pursuaded the band to sign for them. Again the band decided to change their name, it became FANTASY, a name that fitted more to the style and flavour of the music. The debut album was called "Paint A Picture" and released in '73 (now on CD). Soon FANTASY belonged to the past, the tapes for a next album remained in the vaults of time.
Fortunately the label Audio Archives released these tapes as a CD called "Beyond The Beyond". This one is an absolute beauty and it contains nine very refined compositions with warm vocals and 12-string acoustic guitars, flowing and sensitive electric guitar and lots of Hammond organ and Mellotron. The highlight on this album is the track Alexandrie (almost 9 minutes) with the Mellotron in all its splendor: majestic eruptions and beautiful waves along a typical Sixties sounding organ. A MUST!

Antônio Viana Gomes, mais conhecido como Tony Tornado ou Toni Tornado (Mirante do Paranapanema, 26 de maio de 1930), é um ator e cantor brasileiro. Em 1970 foi o vencedor da fase brasileira do V Festival Internacional da Canção com a canção soul "BR-3". Aos 11 anos de idade Tony fugiu de casa e foi parar no Rio de Janeiro onde se tornou menino de rua e ganhava a vida vendendo amendoim e engraxando sapatos. Aos 18 anos serviu na Escola de Paraquedismo de Deodoro junto com o empresário Silvio Santos Em 1957, lutou no Canal de Suez8 .
Tony iniciou sua carreira artística nos anos 60 com o nome artístico de Tony Checker, dublando e dançando no programa "Hoje é dia de Rock" de Jair de Taumaturgo, nessa época Tony imitava os cantores Chubby Checker e Little Richard. Ainda nos anos 60, viajou aos Estados Unidos onde morou por cinco anos em Nova York. Em Nova York, Tony atuou como traficante de drogas e cafetão, para enganar o departamento de imigração, fingia ser um funcionário de um lava-rápido. Nessa época, Tony conheceu outro brasileiro que também morava em Nova York, o também cantor Tim Maia.
De volta ao Brasil em 1969, trabalhou no conjunto de Ed Lincoln e também cantava na noite com o pseudônimo de Johnny Bradfort, o dono da boate o obrigava a fingir ser um estrangeiro. Em 1970, adotou o nome com o qual passou a ser conhecido "Tony Tornado", influenciado por James Brown, Tony foi um dos artistas que introduziu a Soul Music e o Funk na música brasileira. Nesse mesmo ano, ao lado do Trio Ternura defendeu a canção BR-3, que conseguiu o primeiro lugar no festival.
Estreou na televisão em 1972 com a novela Jerônimo, da TV Tupi. Participa frequentemente de várias novelas e minisséries, mas quase nunca, infelizmente, em papéis de destaque. O maior papel de sua carreira na TV foi o chefe da segurança pessoal do presidente e estadista Getúlio Vargas, Gregório Fortunato , o "Anjo Negro", na minissérie Agosto, de 1993, baseada na obra de Rubem Fonseca. Outro papel marcante de sua carreira foi o capataz Rodésio, que trabalhava para a Viúva Porcina (Regina Duarte), em Roque Santeiro - tão marcante que, em um dos finais gravados, era Rodésio quem terminava ao lado de Porcina, que no entanto foi vetado pela emissora Globo por medo da reação do público.
Foi casado com a atriz Arlete Salles na década de 70. É pai do também ator Lincoln Tornado, que recentemente interpretou o personagem Ezequiel, na telenovela global Escrito nas Estrelas. Atualmente, Tony voltou a se apresentar nos palcos de todo país cantando seus maiores sucessos, acompanhado da banda Funkessência e de seu filho, o cantor e também ator Lincoln Tornado.

Zabriskie Point is a 1970 American film by Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni, widely noted at the time for its setting in the counterculture of the United States in the late 1960s. Some of the film's scenes were shot on location at Zabriskie Point in Death Valley. Zabriskie Point was an overwhelming commercial failure and panned by most critics upon release. It has, however, achieved somewhat of a cult status and is noted for its cinematography, use of music, and direction.
The soundtrack to Zabriskie Point included music from Pink Floyd, The Youngbloods, The Kaleidoscope, Jerry Garcia, Patti Page, Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones and John Fahey. Roy Orbison sang the theme song, over the credits, called "So Young".
Zabriskie Point is a soundtrack album to the Michelangelo Antonioni film of the same name. It was originally released in February 1970 and comprises songs from various artists. A 1997 re-release includes four bonus tracks each from Jerry Garcia and Pink Floyd that were used in the film, but not the original soundtrack. Jim Morrison of the Doors wrote the track "L'America" for the film, but was rejected by Antonioni ("L'America" was later released on the Doors album L.A. Woman). A Rolling Stones track, "You Got the Silver", is featured in the film but not present on this album.

Pink Floyd's contributions to the album were recorded in November and December 1969, after the release of Ummagumma. "Come in Number 51, Your Time Is Up" is a re-recording of "Careful with That Axe, Eugene," originally released as a b-side in December 1968. "Love Scene (Version 4)" is a Richard Wright solo piano composition. "Country Song" (also known as "The Red Queen") is a ballad filled with chess metaphors. "Unknown Song" (also known as "Rain in the Country") is a relaxed instrumental. "Love Scene (Version 6)" is a bluesy instrumental. A track entitled "Fingal's Cave" and another called "Oenone" were recorded but did not appear on the finished album. Pink Floyd also recorded other unreleased material during the same sessions. Most notable is a lengthy composition which at that time was known as "The Violent Sequence" (later released on Dark Side of the Moon Immersion Box Set). This piece is immediately recognisable as the basis of "Us and Them" from Dark Side of the Moon.

Anthony Tillmon "Tony" Williams (December 12, 1945 – February 23, 1997) was an American jazz drummer. Widely regarded as one of the most important and influential jazz drummers to come to prominence in the 1960s, Williams first gained fame in the band of trumpeter Miles Davis and was a pioneer of jazz fusion.
Editor’s Note: The drumming world was shocked when Tony Williams suddenly passed away in his hospital bed on February 23, 1997. He was only 52 years old and appeared to have been in good health, with decades of creative expression ahead of him. We rushed the following cover story together at the last moment, pulling Williams quotes from various press releases and an interview generously shared by Christophe Rossi, who was the editor of the French drumming magazine Batteur. We worked frantically to make a short deadline, and the issue was on newsstands by mid-April.
“The dance band drum set is an American invention that people don’t pay much attention to,” Williams said. “It is an American treasure. A lot of players gave their blood to this instrument – and it is afforded less dignity than, say, the harmonica. Maybe because I’m a drummer, I’m prejudiced. I think it needs to be brought to light what the drum set and the drummer mean. You can have some below-average players and a great drummer, and the audience thinks the band was great, but not know why. You can have a great band with a lousy drummer and people will shake their heads and not know why.”

The Man and The Journey are two album-length suites of music performed in concert by Pink Floyd during their 1969 tour. They consist of several of their early songs, some unreleased songs, and material later included on Soundtrack from the Film More and Ummagumma. The concerts featured visual performance elements such as the sawing and construction of a table, and consumption of afternoon tea onstage.
The concept was first performed 14 April 1969 at the Royal Festival Hall in a show billed as The Massed Gadgets of Auximines – More Furious Madness from Pink Floyd. A truncated version of the show was recorded 12 May 1969 for the Top Gear radio programme. The 17 September performance at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam is the most widely bootlegged of the shows on the tour (however, incomplete) because it was broadcast by radio station VPRO. Plans for an official live album release of The Man and The Journey were considered,but abandoned because of overlap of material with Ummagumma.
