Bobby Forrester - Jazz & Funk (Hammond)

Bobby Forrester was one of the greats of the Hammond Organ in Jazz and Rhythm and Blues. He worked for years with countless legends of Black music, from Lena Horne to Ruth Brown and everyone in between. Primarily known as the keyboardist and musical director for legendary R&B singer Ruth Brown for over 26 years, Bobby Forrester’s funky Hammond B3 organ sound has supported a variety of well known blues and jazz artists, including Irene Reid, Gloria Lynne, Stanley Turrentine, Ray Alexander, Frank Wess, and Lena Horne. Presented here is Forrester’s rare, often overlooked 1971 solo album, which should prove a boon to both lovers of the soul jazz idiom, and B3 fans the world over. Bobby Forrester (Hammond organ); Elijah Williams Jr. (guitar); Johnny Kirkwood (drums). All selections newly remastered.

Robbie Robertson - Folk Blues Rock

Jaime Royal "Robbie" Robertson, OC (born July 5, 1943), is a Canadian musician, songwriter, film composer, producer, actor, and author. Robertson is best known for his work as lead guitarist and primary songwriter for The Band, and for his career as a solo recording artist.

Robertson's work with the Band was instrumental in creating the Americana music genre. Robertson has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame as a member of the Band, and has been inducted to Canada's Walk of Fame, both with the Band and on his own. He is ranked 59th in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitarists. As a songwriter, Robertson is credited for writing "The Weight", "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", "Up on Cripple Creek", "Broken Arrow", "Somewhere Down the Crazy River", and many others. He has been inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Songwriters.

As a film soundtrack producer and composer, Robertson is known for his collaborations with director Martin Scorsese, which began with the rockumentary film The Last Waltz (1978), and continued through a number of dramatic films, including Raging Bull (1980), Casino (1995), The Departed (2006), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) and The Irishman (2019). He has worked on many other soundtracks for film and television.

Sinematic is an enthralling set of songs that explore the darker corridors of human nature. The 13 song collection is his first since 2011’s How To Become Clairvoyant, and themes sprang from his recent film scoring for Martin Scorsese’s organized crime pic, The Irishman and his forthcoming documentary Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band.

Tempo e Modo - Prog Rock (Portugal)

Given that they are of Portuguese origin and supposedly from 1980, I had presumed the album would be a symphonic fusion along the lines of Tantra and Ananga Ranga (which would have been great as well). But that's not really the case at all. Primarily it's a mixture of instrumental symphonic progressive rock combined with a distinct new wave element, that tilts the album towards the neo-prog camp. This latter style, as I've noted in prior posts, was quite a good genre in its early stages, and Tempo e Modo are an excellent example of it. Think early 80s IQ / Pendragon / Twelfth Night. The instrumental tracks are the highlight here, with a strong melodic content coupled with excellent guitar and keyboard runs. A very nice surprise. This is the kind of album Musea used to release in their prime. I keep hoping, perhaps naively so, that they will dip back into the reissue market.

Bob Seger - Folk Rock

Robert Clark Seger (born May 6, 1945) is an American singer, songwriter and musician. As a locally successful Detroit-area artist, he performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s, breaking through with his first national hit and album in 1968. By the early 1970s, he had dropped the 'System' from his recordings and continued to strive for broader success with various other bands. In 1973, he put together the Silver Bullet Band, with a group of Detroit-area musicians, with whom he became most successful on the national level with the album Live Bullet (1976), recorded live with the Silver Bullet Band in 1975 at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan. In 1976, he achieved a national breakout with the studio album Night Moves. On his studio albums, he also worked extensively with the Alabama-based Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which appeared on several of Seger's best-selling singles and albums.

I Knew You When is the eighteenth studio album by American rock singer-songwriter Bob Seger. It was released on November 17, 2017. The album was recorded in Nashville and Detroit and produced by Seger himself. The first song that became available from the album was "Glenn Song", which was written by Seger as a tribute to his friend Glenn Frey of the Eagles, who had died one year before. On January 18, 2017—eight months before the album was announced—Seger released "Glenn Song" for free on his official website. The song recounts his long friendship with Frey that began in 1966. When the album's track listing was revealed on October 13, 2017, "Glenn Song" was listed as one of three bonus tracks that can be found on the deluxe edition of I Knew You When. Along with the track listing, the album covers of both the 10-track standard edition and the 13-track deluxe edition were revealed as well, and the album became available for pre-order the same day. The standard edition is available on CD and 130-gram vinyl, while the deluxe edition is available on CD, as a digital download, and via select streaming services. Rockin and reflecting.... Bob Seger at his best!

Heavy Metal in Brazil

Brazil is known as an amazing country in relation to culture and music, and in Heavy Metal, things have yet another level.

Our country has already exported incredible bands like Sepultura to the world heavy music scene and many other minor names are seen as influential by fans and music critics around the world.

Brazil is a culturally diverse country and rich in mixing different styles in various sectors of entertainment, who here never watched, heard, learned, read, something related to the inclusions of rock with samba, rock with forró, rock with baião, rock with maracatu, among other styles typically created in the country?
