Mundanus Imperium - Dark Progressive Metal (Norway)

Mundanus Imperium was a Norwegian dark progressive metal band established at Hamar in 1994 under the name Nattefall.

Once upon a time this Norwegian band was firmly in the black metal camp, but by the time of their debut album, they had transformed into a progressive/power metal band, with some black metal remnants (notably the keyboards) left in. Vocalist J?rn Lande (then an unknown, and probably not a part of the band in its early days) displayed a strong voice and a 70's style, reminiscent of singers such as Ronnie James Dio or Ian Gillan. There's a noticeable symphonic/classical feel to the songs, with the end result being a pretty interesting album, and what appeared to be a start to a solid career. debut. For whatever reason, however, the band soon disappeared from sight, and apart from Lande later joining Ark (and after that, Masterplan), the members were never heard from again.

Nattefall was a black metal band composed by bassist and drummer Lars Wiik and keyboardist Bent E. Holm. After releasing the demo Ode to the Nightsky in 1996, interest was shown by the company Velvet Music. The band changed its name to Mundanus Imperium and the demo was released as EP in 1997. Petter J. Thuve (guitar) and Jørn Lande (vocal) were recruited and the style was changed to dark progressive metal. The following year, the band's only full-length music album, The Spectral Spheres Coronation, came. The band was dissolved in 1998.
