Tó Neto - Electronic Prog ( Portugal)

Tó Neto was born in Luanda, Angola. Being the son of an engineer and scientist who researched the computer and electronic music world, he was in contact with synthesizers from an early age. His African roosts strongly influence and decisively contribute to the richness of the rhythmic component that is present throughout his music. On his arrival in Portugal, in 1975, he joined the Academy of Music Amateurs (Academia dos amadores de Musica). A little later he joined the Jazz School at Hot Club. While still at the school, he founded the music group “Luz” with some fellow musicians which later gave rise to several important projects of Portuguese music such as Tantra, Herois do Mar, Madre Deus, as well as his own project of Electronic music.

In 1983, he launched his first solo vinyl album entitled “ LÁCTEA” which would become a milestone in Portuguese music as it was considered by the media and music critics to be the first electronic music album recorded in Portugal. This achievement gave him the status of one of the pioneers of electronic music. He was also a precursor of multimedia entertainment with the use of lasers and video projections in Portugal. He presented his concerts in places such as the Lisbon Planetarium, the Lisbon and Porto Coliseus, the St. Luis and Rivoli theatres, The Antas Stadium, the Terreiro do Paco, the Cascais Bay and Pavillion, among many others carried out throughout the country. In 1987 his album "BIG BANG" came out and the disk was presented in Angola where he held 2 concerts that took on large proportions for having been done during the critical time of the Angolan war. During this tour a video clip entitled "GENTE D..AQUI” was filmed. He was a resident musician for RTP (Radio Television Portugal) having participated and cooperated in numerous television programmes.

Between 1989 and 1992 he lived in Los Angeles where he studied at Roland USA, Korg and at the Angel Studios where he graduated as an Electronic Music Instructor. On his return to Portugal and during the following years, he recorded various albums including "ANGOLA", “PLANETÁRIO”, “MARAVILHAS DO MUNDO”,“NÉCTAR and the DVD “Lagoa com Vida”.
