Groove Corporation - Downtempo, Dub, Drum n Bass, Deep House (Germany)

Very interesting album, packed with enticing dance rhythms, from a band I only recently heard for the first time, digging this CD out of the bargain bin of a local shop. I'm not sure what prompted me to get it actually. Perhaps I was confusing them with another band with a similar name, Groove Collective. Whatever the case, I ended up liking this album very much.

Despite the name confusion, the Groove Corporation IS somewhat of a musical "collective," comprised of various male and female vocals, a rapper, and the occasional "real" musician playing sax. The overall sound is a bit like early Massive Attack, along with bits that remind me of of Soul 2 Soul and M People in some songs. Lead vocals on the various songs (there are also two very pulsating instrumentals) are shared by the likes of Tracey Riggin, Romillie, Bim Sherman (of On-U Sound fame), and C.S. Lawrence. Over 60 minutes of music on this album, one that's very much worth your time.
