Vertigo Angels - Alternative Rock (UK)

Vertigo Angels was a three-piece band fronted by Melanie Garside. They released one album called Eradicate Apathy in 2003, which, according to Mel, is being re-released late 2008.

The ever increasingly talented Maple Bee unleashes the harshest of her myriad of musical excursions with the Vertigo Angels 3 piece band. This album enjoyed all of 3 weeks release originally before the production and management company went bankrupt and the album became entangled in ownership problems. Due to fans relentless requests Xie has taken up the battle and won and here it is …

Melanie Garside, aka Maple Bee, is a multi-talented lady. She's started up a lot of projects since her first band, Tabitha Zu, burst on to the scene in the mid-ninties. These include playing bass in her sister's band, Queen Adreena, making music with the classical artists, the the Mediaeval Babes, as well as two (very different!) solo albums. And then there's this little gem. The Vertigo Angels, fronted by Maple bee, have a rather special sound - a little bit Garbage, a bit PJ Harvey, a bit Mazzy Star, but, at the same time, completley other. I put this down to Maple bee's very distinctive voice - stong, smooth, glassy & melodic. It makes every track absolutley stunning. The music harkens back to Maple's Tabitha Zu days - guitars & unusual sounds. But there's something else here. Something that makes this album feel very, very special. That there will never be another quite like this. Maple Bee has a habit of moving on after completing a project. The Vertigo Angels do appear to be now defunct. Which is a great shame. The solo project that followed this was beautiful. I believe she is currently recording with the the mediaeval babes. Maybe one day she'll come back & record some more Vertigo Angels. Or maybe she'll won't. Needless to say that whatever projects she goes into in the future, she'll make
