County Jels - Blues Rock (France)

It is no news that England and France do not really lie. They accept each other but that is what has been said. How nice is it that the French band County Jels is clearly influenced by the music of 70's / 80's English bands like Bad Company, The Babys and Foreigner? So music is fraternizing, or am I too naïve now?
Whatever it is, this second album from County Jels sounds good.
The band consists of Eric Sauvial (vocals, guitar, slide guitar), Sébastien Chouard (guitar), Laurent Cokelaere (bass) and Julien Audigier (drums).

They open the album with Eyes Of Love. A blues rock song that has obvious Babys influences. Even if it was only because of the John Waite-like voice of Eric Sauvial. In the funky I Love The Game there are Little feat-like grooves. A restrained swinging song in which at the end the hard guitar riffs come with a screeching guitar solo as climax.
Instrudo is an instrumental funky shuffle in which the two guitarists show their best side. The one jazzy and the other hard blues rocking. In the sparkling blues rocker Lucie the aforementioned influences re-emerge, while I also had to think about Bachman-Turner Overdrive through the "Takin 'Care Of Business" -like riffs.
I see the semi-acoustic ballad Your Light as an attempt to enter the charts. And that could happen with this commercial ballad. If a band like Extreme also succeeded, would it be possible for our French friends? Baby Please Come Down is a nice relaxed swinging country blues with wonderful slide work. Strangers is suddenly a log burning blues rock song with hard buzzing guitars and distorted vocals. I did not expect this style immediately, but that's why I think the song is all the more fun. A great song with a hard-ripping psychedelic solo. Dead Rat Jam is the second instrumental on this album. Loom playing with both jazzy and loudly screaming guitar work.
The album ends with the lively, lazy Working On The Farm. A shuffle with a very nice sunny, funky sound.

A nice album on which classic rock sound is kept alive in a respectful way.
