Cayman Kings - Rock (France)

From the northern French city of Lille comes the debut of Cayman Kings. A first album that since its title, "Suffering Chelsea Boots", leaves us quite clear the aesthetic coordinates (and musical, which tend to be synonymous both) through which the quintet: the sixties-inspired garage full of fuzz and farfisa organs . Emerged from the surf band Stone Dead Matador, and before releasing this premiere album, Cayman Kings had built a reputation as a group with a wild live show, which made them one of the underground's promises in the neighboring country. And almost all of Europe we could say, thanks to having toured much of the continent in the couple of years that have seen them since their formation. Having been signed after a previous EP self-published by the renowned German label Soundflat Records should make them an inexcusable reference for any self-respecting garage fan. As mentioned in the first paragraph, Cayman Kings do not get too out of the script of the most canonical garage, which is mainly influenced by the sounds of the 60s, with the omnipresence of the organ and the prominent use of the fuzz pedal for guitars. This does not mean however that "Suffering Chelsea Boots" is a clone album by artists or bands from the past (although perhaps the main riff of "Same Old" is familiar to us), because fortunately Cayman Kings know how to equip their compositions with an own and personal sound. It highlights for me his ability to build refrains that engage in songs like the initial "Yard of Junkies" and "Under Your Crown" for example, although we can not forget the more "Two Lovers" or the forcefulness of others as "All Nighters" " A record that surely will not disappoint garage fans and sixties sounds ....
