Electric Mud - Krautrock, Prog Rock (Germany)

ELECTRIC MUD are a 1970s German Krautrock band with a classic energetic hard rock sound. Their only album was released in 1971, a self-titled album from the label Lost Pipe Dreams, with some simplistic but creepy cover art of a screaming face with a snake crawling into the mouth and exiting the eyeball. The artists involved on the album include Jochen Dyduch on drums, Axel Helm on organ, piano, Udo Preising on bass, vocals, and Manfred Simhäuser on guitar. The powerful guitar sound is reminiscent of heavy bands NECRONOMICON and VIRUS. There are only four tracks on the album though some are length and have a very progressive structure. "Hausfrauenreport" has a sound akin to GENESIS' "Foxtrot". The vocals of Udo Preising are prominent and the keyboards have a forceful presence throughout the album. ELECTRIC MUD are another of the early 70s Krautrock groups that released only one album and disappeared from the scene. The music should appeal to lovers of Krautrock with a harder edge and an emphasis on guitar driven rock.
