Retrofoguetes - Surf Music & Latin Jazz (Brazil)

Retrofoguetes is a Brazilian instrumental band formed by Rex (drums), Julio Moreno (guitar), Andre T (keyboards) and Fábio Rocha (bass).

Born in the early 1970s, Retrofogues grew into the pop universe of comics, cartoons, movies, and TV sitcoms. What they did not know is that all this, along with a musical bag that includes surf music, circus music, latin jazz, cocktail lounge, spy jazz, tango, swing jazz, polka and rockabilly, would be the ingredients they would mix 30 years later in the instrumental themes of the group.

With participations in festivals throughout the country, the trio created in 2002 is recognized as one of the most renowned independent instrumental bands in Brazil. The debut CD, Activate Retrofoguetes! (2003, Monster Discos), received in 2004 the nomination for the Claro Prize for Music in the Best Instrumental Music Disc category. In 2008, the Retrofoguetes had the song "Phantom Asteroid" included in the track of the commercial of Unimed titled "War - Smoke Kills More". The piece was produced by the F / Nazca S & S agency, one of the most respected in the country and the commercial, Brazilian record holder in nominations, was awarded a Bronze Lion and a Silver Bear at the Cannes Film Festival.

The second CD, Chachacha (2009, Karzov Industries - Independent) brings a more mature work. The CD was officially released on the main stage of the Castro Alves Theater (Salvador / BA), in a memorable and unprecedented show, with Retrofoguetes being the first rock band to launch a work in Bahia's most important theater. The first single from the album, "Maldito Mambo!", Won the best arrangement award at the Radio Educadora 2008 Music Festival (Bahia-Brasil). Chachachá has been nominated for Video Music Brasil - VMB 2009 and quotes in specialized magazines such as Bravo! and Rolling Stone, the latter choosing the CD among the 25 best national records of 2009.
