Didier - Jazz Rock/Kraut Fusion (Germany)

German band with its only album of jazz-rock and fusion. Vocals in English. Fusion here is psychedelic, a little bit zamorochenny and forcing a gloomy atmosphere with an acid guitar in the foreground and Saks / flute on the second. Some tracks use the saxo-key-guitar bunch with rocker drive, therefore such compositions can be quite classified as jazz-rock. A good record with a somewhat outlined “coldness”, characteristic already for fusion 80-90’s. There are a few synthesizers, but in general the sound is 70-cue. It can also be designated as a plate of the transition period. Mellow-fusion-prog - also suitable for this release. Present and overtone kraut-rock.

Drums, Percussion – Mr. Ebro Naswili*
Electric Bass, Flute, Vocals – Michael S.'toll I.*
Electric Guitar – 'Pat' Patrick L. Mayran*
Other [Inspiration] – Pan
Piano, Organ, Synthesizer – 'M'Willi'W. Wunderlich(t..*
Soprano Saxophone, Alto Saxophone, Sounds – Didier/Cptn. Coffee*
Tabla – 'Dizzy'*

Arto Lindsay & Ambitious Lovers (Pop Funk Experimental Music)

Ambitious Lovers were a dance-pop musical group composed of guitarist/singer Arto Lindsay and keyboardist Peter Scherer, active from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. Their music incorporated elements from Brazilian music and funk. Despite strong reviews from critics for their three albums, Ambitious Lovers found little success with mainstream audiences.

Lindsay had earlier been active with DNA, a seminal group in New York City's noisy no wave music scene. With Ambitious Lovers, however, Lindsay would reduce the abrasive qualities in his music (apart from his own distinctive, untrained guitar mangling), and increase the presence of standard pop music elements. Notable was a strong influence from Brazilian music and funk, with Lindsay sometimes singing in Portuguese.

Envy (1984) was the first of a projected series of albums inspired by the seven deadly sins, though Ambitious Lovers recorded only Greed (1988) and Lust (1991) before disbanding.

Most of their albums featured appearances from many prominent New York-based musicians, including guitarists Marc Ribot, Vernon Reid and Bill Frisell; Brazilian music legend Caetano Veloso; percussionists Nana Vasconcelos and Joey Baron; bassist Melvin Gibbs; and Nile Rodgers.

Their legacy helped promote the modernization and globalization of world music under a singular brand and helped forward careers of many performers, who have since recorded for record labels like Nonesuch Records and Luaka Bop.

The quartet's roots have their foundation in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with branches that have begun to stretch throughout mid-America and the South. Bango - Psychedelic Rock (Brazil)

One of the most obscure Brazilian rock bands, Bango has released an album that is considered to be one of the best of our national rock of the first half of the seventies. The self titled album offers a psychedelic, rock-like sound with a dash of Beatles ballad.

The quintet formed by Aramis de Barros and Fernando on guitars, Elydio on bass, Roosevelt on organ and Max Pierre on drums is actually The Cannibals with another name and another musical proposal. Unfortunately there is very little information available about the band acting under the Bango nickname. Like The Cannibals, the band established itself as one of the most respected dance bands during the sixties, and resident band of television programs during the Young Guard.

In the 70`s, they follow the influences of the time where the national rock post Tropicalismo happened to be reflected more and more in the Mutants, becoming significantly heavier. Along with the change in musical design came the name change, Bango being one of several species of cannabis, found in northeastern Africa.

They released in 1971 by Musicdisc the self titled album that is today one of the rarest and most sought after albums of our national rock. Afterwards, they were able to put on the market a simple compact before closing activities. Although there has not yet been any attempt to make an official CD release, some tracks can be found in compilations covering national psychedelic, mainly in the foreign market.

Arawak (Luciano Simoncini) - Instrumental Music (Italy)

Extremely rare Italian library album featuring Silvana Simoncini (Arawak's wife) on the cover, and with new liner notes.  Long revered in connoisseur circles, but always elusive almost to the status of a myth, Arawak’s “Accade a..” takes us on a journey across the planet, depicting faraway places with an uncanny sense of style, using a tapestry of sounds and instruments, sometimes mellow and dreamy, sometimes engulfing the listener in a funky wicked drum break groove. We are offered the chance of a unique journey that takes us from Harlem to Boston, passing through Cuzco, Bali, Bahia, Belfast, Lima and more.. Arawak is one of a multitude of pseudonyms that Luciano Simoncini used in his career as a composer for film scores and background music for radio and television in Italy. Luciano Simoncini was an italian pianist, arranger and conductor (born in Piedimonte Matese, province of Caserta, September 25th , 1939, died in Rome November 8th , 2011). Originally released in 1970 on Simoncini’s own “Squirrel records” this album managed to stay under the radar until Hip Hop performer Quasimoto (alter ego of producer Madlib) sampled “Accade a Harlem” for the “Suono libero” series on 70’s Jazz funk from Italian library music. Since then, the album slowly but steadily progressed to its well deserved cult status. This release is fully licensed and comes with liner notes by Luciano Simoncini’s family friend Claudio Casalini and Golden Pavilion producer and record collector Antonio Barreiros.  The laid-back grooves and enticing dreamy atmospheres alternate with more funky sounds to make a truly unique music experience that will appeal to fans of Janko Nilovic, Stefano Torossi, Remigio Ducros, Pino Canizzo.

Solus - Psych Rock (Canada)

𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘺𝘢 𝘠𝘶𝘨𝘢 contains 50 minutes of driving basslines, hypnotic drums, meandering melodies, and fuzzed out riffs - all infused with traditional eastern folk instruments.

The record consists of eight tracks which are for the most part on the longer side of the spectrum, time wise. They are essentially jam-band formulas infused with hard rock guitar and bass and beats that are that are likely the same found on the tracks which middle-aged soccer moms listen to while doing their daily routine of yoga.

Though many, if not all the tracks are long and generally repetitive, one thing that remains certain is Solus’s ability to play the bass and guitar like a seasoned hard rock veteran. It is essentially then a record which like those fans of Jeff Beck and Steve Vai will enjoy. It is a worthy first attempt though I think Solus’s talents would be better suited to having more tangible players on his next record.

𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘺𝘢 𝘠𝘶𝘨𝘢 is the debut offering from the one man solo project 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘴.

The Diddys Feat Paige Douglas - Funk & Soul

A very cool, really rare soul album from the Philly scene – one that was written, produced, and arranged by Hammond organist Charles Earland – but which is a sweet soul album with a really great feel! There's definitely a touch of Earland's keyboard work on the set – especially some of those non-organ lines he brought to his records for Mercury – and there's a jazzy groove that really sets The Diddys apart from other east coast groups of the time – a more complex approach to rhythm and instrumentation that almost makes some of the tunes feel as if they came from the James Mason side of the spectrum! The whole thing's wonderful – as unique as it is rare – and titles include "Intergalactic Love Song", "Strange Love", "Your Love Is Like A See Saw Baby", "How Long Have You Loved Him", and "My Special Love". CD features lots of bonus tracks – alternate takes of nearly every number on the record!

Rare groove Classic! Cult Soul album organist Charles Arland has left the world's first reprint. Masterpiece Cosmic Soul, which is known as Gilles Peterson FAVORITE "Intergalactic Love Song", there is no so much heart songs that are dissolved. The alternate mix of the world's first appearance it was 7 version add recording. Soul album with a fascinating a centripetal force in the rare album that was left on the small label Bam-Boo of Philadelphia.

In jazz organist Charles Arland was produced in late 70's who had crowded blow the Cosmic Fusion album on Mercury work, I will think that those in the group name that relationship on a di Deeds of exclusive contract. Featuring the page Douglas made male vocalist, and showcase original songs on the theme of LOVE in the whole volume. Cross Over, disco, boogie feeling and spacey effects are rare groove enough feeling.

The Diddys featuring Paige Douglas and lifted from the Agony And Extasy album from 1977 produced by Charles Earland for the Bam Buu label. Soulful Disco Funk with tight drums and an overload of lead guitar and that killer vocal melody that will stick in your brain for weeks...

The Chaparall Electric Sound Inc. ‎- Psychedelic Krautrock (Germany)

Third Wave Mansion - Progressive Rock (Canada)

First album by Quebec City prog rockers Third Wave Mansion. The sound, the choice of instruments and the general feel of this recording is very much inspired by the more classic prog rock era.

André Houle : Keyboards, Drums, Back Vocals (on Free Giant)
Guillaume Laberge : All Lead and Back Vocals
Jean Roy : Guitars, Bass, Drums

This project was born by the end of year 2001, some 17 years ago.  Having collaborated on different projects with mutual friends and sharing an admiration for many of the same bands and artists, Jean and André, respectively guitarist and keyboardist, laid down the basis of what was to later become their new band.  A band in the image of  the greats that inspired their respective youth.
In the following months, they began working on their original music as a serious hobby.  Mainly motivated by the recording of original music and very much inspired by what is known as the classic progressive rock era, they recruited musicians among their acquaintances using a homemade demo that contained 2 pieces that would eventually end up on their first album.  Over the years, from 2001 to 2014, the project has undergone various changes of musicians and names.  By the end of 2014, after lengthy recording sessions over a 4 years period with a full band and several trials at mastering these recordings, they became quite dissatisfied with the rendering of the final product.  After deciding to regain control over their project, they started the recording of all their music over again.  At the end of these fruitful recording sessions, they were joined by a highly motivated Guillaume, a work acquaintance of André and former singer of the metal band Warder.  To mark this change of era in the band’s life and Guillaume’s presence as a new member, they adopt the name Third Wave Mansion.
By June 2018, they’ve released their first CD, First Hour.

David Ming-Yueh Liang - Chinese Masterpieces for the Ch'in

The guqin (Chinese: 古琴) is a plucked seven-string Chinese musical instrument of the zither family. It has been played since ancient times, and has traditionally been favoured by scholars and literati as an instrument of great subtlety and refinement, as highlighted by the quote "a gentleman does not part with his qin or se without good reason," as well as being associated with the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius. It is sometimes referred to by the Chinese as "the father of Chinese music" or "the instrument of the sages". The guqin is not to be confused with the guzheng, another Chinese long zither also without frets, but with moveable bridges under each string.

Legend has it that the qin, the most revered of all Chinese musical instruments, has a history of about 5,000 years, and that the legendary figures of China's pre-history — Fuxi, Shennong and Huang Di, the "Yellow Emperor" — were involved in its creation. Nearly all qin books and tablature collections published prior to the twentieth century state this as the actual origins of the qin, although this is now viewed as mythology. It is mentioned in Chinese writings dating back nearly 3,000 years, and examples have been found in tombs from about 2,500 years ago. The exact origins of the qin is still a very much continuing subject of debate over the past few decades.

In 1977, a recording of "Flowing Water" (Liu Shui, as performed by Guan Pinghu, one of the best qin players of the 20th century) was chosen to be included in the Voyager Golden Record, a gold-plated LP recording containing music from around the world, which was sent into outer space by NASA on the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 spacecraft. It is the longest excerpt included on the disc. The reason to select a work played on this specific instrument is because the tonal structure of the instrument, its musical scale, is derived from fundamental physical laws related to vibration and overtones, representing the intellectual capacity of human beings on this subject. In 2003, guqin music was proclaimed as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Striking, contemplative solo pieces for guqin, as performed by David Ming-Yueh Liang.

SPOKE OF SHADOWS - Heavy Prog • United States

The project named SPOKE OF SHADOWS was born in early 2013, when - thanks to a mutual friend - Texas-based multi-instrumentalist Mark Cook (a former member of HANDS and 99 NAMES OF GOD, currently with HERD OF INSTINCT) was put in touch with renowned session drummer Bill Bachman (inventor of the Remote Speedy Hat). Feeling the need to expand his compositional horizon, Cook had been writing some music of his own after completing the mixing of Conjure, Herd of Instinct's second album, so he sent Bachman the completed tracks for his contribution.

After some virtual recording sessions, Mark and Bill met in person for the first time in Dallas, at a Led Zeppelin tribute show - an essential step for taking their project to the next level. The duo's self-titled debut album, recorded in various locations throughout the US, was finally released in February 2014 on DJAM KARET's label, Firepool Records.

Bad Tripes - Experimental Rock (France)

Formed in 2006, Bad Tripes is a group of metal punk indus and HC gore that comes from Marseille. The Tales of the Tripe is their 3rd album. Bad Tripes pays particular attention to their music as well as visuals and looks. The texts are written in French. Bad Tripes is a mixed group composed of happy lurons who love the blood that splashes on the face, sharp knives and chainsaws, circus with freaks, funfairs with the ghost train, non-Belgian comic (here no Tintin and Snowy!) and the horror cinema at once extravagant, bis, Z and gothic. The band is led by the voice of Hikiko Mori, who goes from screaming / shouting to the song of little plague that disrupts music lessons. Seth's guitar riffs are well sharpened, Kami's heavy bass and Siger's martial drums give rhythm without the button in "pose mode", all augmented with sensuality with Marine Charmel and Dame Paprika choruses. Musically gives her a mix between Nina Hagen, Laibach, L7, Goblin, Ministry and Gwar pretty amazing! The texts written in French give more to their style. Girls are very present in the topics covered. Some dream of Freddy, Elizabeth would like to be an actress at the top of the bill, Lola is assaulted by L'Ogre de Barbarie, we meet Baby Porn, Lady Elephant, the butcher of Hanover, sluts and satyrs, in short there are people in The Tales of the Tripe (and not cudgel). Humor and good mood being very present at Bad Tripes, their punk metal music is not at all boring. On the contrary we are easily embarked by their large pieces puppet spread on the sidewalk Pigalle. Of course, to better appreciate their music without filter, it is advisable not to have eaten cassoulet or bouillabaisse before listening to the notes and bloody refrains of Bad Tripes. Peace, love and zombie ...
