I Cadmo - Jazz Rock (Italy)

I Cadmo are an Italian jazz rock band. The group was established in Alghero in 1973, by Antonello Salis (piano) Riccardo Lay (electric bass) and Mario Paliano (drums). In April 1974 at the Quadrivio di Nuoro they opened the concert of Il Rovescio della Medaglia. In 1975 the group moved to Rome and recorded the 33rd "Boomerang", gaining the appreciation of the critics, in particular of Franco Fayenz. In Rome the Sardinian musicians came into contact with Massimo Urbani, Maurizio Giammarco, Tommaso Vittorini, Enzo Pietropaoli and Roberto Gatto. In 1977 they recorded their second album, "Flying over Ortobene Mount on July Seventy-seven". An artistic partnership was born with Lester Bowie and the Art Ensemble of Chicago. Also the saxophonist Sandro Satta joined the group.
