A masterpiece of hard and heavy funk from one of the best bands of the early 70s! The Nite-Liters were a legendary funky combo that provided the backing for some of New Birth's best albums -- but on their own, they were even funkier, and had a sound that was part JBs, part Meters, and all funky! A few singers from The New Birth provide chorus vocals on a few tracks, but most of the set is instrumental. Every track's a gem and titles include: ""Drumology"", ""Excuse Me While I Do My Thing"", ""Serenade for a Jive Turkey"", ""Happy Hooker"", ""Craaashing"", ""Damn"", ""Pee-Foul"", and a sweet cover of ""Valdez in the Country"".
Harvey Fuqua and Tony Churchill formed the Nite-Liters in 1963 in Louisville. When the band subsequently expanded to 17 members, with a pair of vocal groups and a instrumental ensemble, they were renamed New Birth, Inc. Churchill, Austin Lander, James Baker, Robert Jackson, Leroy Taylor, and Robin Russell were the original bandmembers. Ben Boxtel, Roger Voice, and James Hall were later recruits. They had two mild instrumental hits for RCA in 1971 and 1972, with "K-Jee" making the R&B Top 20.

Cara, vou te dizer que comecei a curtir estes Funks & Grooves meio tarde também. Na faculdade que cursei, a moçada ouvia muito Tim Maia e James Brown... Nas festas, só Funk & Groove. Daí criei gosto. Quando comecei a gostar de música mesmo, meus primeiros álbuns eram de rock Progressivo (ELP, Pink Floyd, Triumvirat) e uns rocks mais pesados (Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin). Tive uma fase mais metal também... Hoje gosto de música boa!!!
