LOCH NESS - Symphonic Prog • Brazil

The glorious 70's were ending and a group of Brazilian musicians formed by Roberto Reese (electric and vocal); Alexandre "Caph" (Grand Piano, Hammond Organ, TX 70, Polysix Synth, vocals); Claudio Cotia Barreto (Bass) e Ailton Sgon (Drums and percussion). decide to form a Prog bands to play in the vein of their idols from Great Britain and Germany so LOCH NESS is born in Volta Redonda - Rio de Janeiro.

In the style of the hardest bands they used three electric guitars, bass, drums, piano, synths and of course a Hammond but already the first peak of Symphonic Prog had ended, so they have to wait more than a decade to release their first and only album "Prologue" (1991).

The lyrics are in English but with a heavy accent. The highlight is the work done by Alexandre "Caph" with his treasured Hammond and Grand piano.

Loch Ness is reminiscent of Triumvirat due to the epic and pompous tendencies but with a closeness to Hard Rock very common in bands from a country like Brazil where RUSH reach the height of semi gods.

Worth looking into to if you're a fan of strong guitar based Symphonic.
