The Dirty Soul Revival - Southern Rock (USA)

Since 2015, the Ashville, North Carolina-based band The Dirty Soul Revival has been focused on making as many concerts as possible in the first few years of their existence. However, this summer of 2018 it was time to present the debut album "Brave New World" to the general public. The band presents very powerful Southern Rock, which has its deep roots in scene heroes such as Lynyrd Skynyrd as well as classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, but which also shows up modern and not stopped in the past. Two guitars, bass, drums and a powerful vocal. What jumps right into the ears with the first tracks is the ultra-cool groove, which the quartet - no matter how fast the respective number may be - starts. Definitely a merit of the rhythm department Jason Taylor and Tyler Wedge, whereby the two guitars in this respect also do not burn anything. So there is no antidote for the bobbing of the head, the feet / legs or the whole body. Healing excluded!

Speaking of guitars: Alone the frontman Abraham Anderson and Brandon Hill are already driving powerful broadsides and are really alarm, without giving up the quieter parts, so that the balance is always maintained. The chord harmonies as well as the sparkling and pinprick solos are a blessing for the soul of the rock fan. The Dirty Soul Revival, although harder than their above-mentioned influences, never slip into Hard Rock or Metal. Personally, the influences of bands that inspired the quartet are a bit too obvious on some tracks. So, after the somewhat cranky (instrumental and short) opener "Prelude Rag", the second song "Welcome To The Black" is very similar to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "I Is not The One" and "Charley Brown" sounds like the phrasing of singing very much after the blessed Ronnie Van Zant. Logically, we are dealing here with Southern Rock and a band from these regions, which is why my complaint is first seen individually.

But even if this is generally felt, then it is already complaining on a fairly high level, because the four South Americans burn here beyond doubt an absolutely rousing fireworks, which demands a respectful first-respected respect. With "Kickback" is on top of a real hammer ballad, stylistically located in the area of Skynyrds "Tuesday's Gone" is represented. Melancholic atmosphere, emotional singing and a lead guitar that plays just the right notes at the right time. But even a small piece of The Black Crowes has crept into this piece, which makes the title even more irresistible. Big cinema! The lead vocals of Abraham Anderson are not what you could hear from hundreds, but the man still does a very good job. So if you're really into the mood for well-made Southern Rock with a penchant for the classic bands of the genre that still can not be reduced to just that, then this band is the place to go.

One conclusion is easy: For Southern Rock fans, "Brave New World" by The Dirty Soul Revival should be a must. If not for a blind purchase, then at least to check-in. In order to throw some hints at getting around, I would like to throw in particular "Welcome To The Black", "The Sun Never Sets", "Kickback" and also the title song. Definitely a tip and although the band plows above all the stages of the southern United States, of course, the hope remains that they sometimes lost in the Old World and at best to Germany to make the local stage boards unsafe. The quality, in order to achieve the necessary sales, agrees with this Erstwerk always.
