Soul Bossa Trio - Jazz & Bossa (Japan)


Soul Bossa Trio is a Japanese jazz band founded in 1993 by Gonzalez Suzuki, Acid Jazz drummer, Toshiyuki and Koichi Matsumoto. I do not know if their Soul Bossa Trio name refers to Quincy Jones' album Big Band Bossa Nova (1962) and his famous song "Soul Bossa Nova" (but I have a big suspicion). Soul Bossa Trio has recorded several albums exploring a fusion of jazz (Acid Jazz), Latin rhythms, including Brazilian, Soul and Downbeat. There is indeed a small revival side pretty enjoyable. Gonzalez Suzuki was originally a member of Tokyo Panorama Mambo Boys, a Japanese Jazz-Pop band in the 80s. The band's debut album, A Taste Of Soul Bossa, was released in 1994. Soul Bossa Trio (1995), their second album, opens with the huge title "Sally" worn by Hammond B3 solos. The version of Bill Withers "Is not No Sunshine" is also worth its weight in peanuts.
